Overview
The “Centro de Memória da FAPESP” project was a significant challenge due to the traditional nature of the institution. I was responsible for developing the website, including the visual design and creating a new visual identity, modernizing the outdated appearance. I worked closely with the technical and editorial teams to ensure the final design was both functional and aesthetically pleasing.
The result was an efficient and organized website, allowing researchers and the general public to access a vast collection of historical documents. This modernization highlighted FAPESP’s importance in the scientific and technological development of the state, providing an accessible and intuitive platform for the preservation and dissemination of valuable information.

Process
Breaking down the project
The design process for the “Centro de Memória da FAPESP” website involved several key stages. As the lead responsible for UX, UI, and visual design, I aimed to create a modern, intuitive, and aesthetically pleasing digital platform.
Extensive Research and Concept Development
Firstly, I conducted thorough research to understand the needs of the website’s target users, including researchers and the general public. I analyzed existing platforms and identified the primary requirements and pain points.
Building on Strong Foundations
One of the major challenges was designing an interface that could adapt to different formats of existing files and media, and display them in an organized manner. Using the iconic building of the FAPESP institution as a starting point, I developed the visual design, drawing elements and patterns from the architecture to create a cohesive and familiar aesthetic for the website. I created wireframes to map out the website’s functionality and structure. Based on this foundation, I developed high-fidelity prototypes and conducted usability testing to refine the design and enhance the user experience.
Collaborating with the Internal Team
Throughout the process, I worked closely with the technical and editorial teams to ensure that the website met all requirements and aligned with FAPESP’s brand identity. This collaboration was crucial in integrating the design with the content and ensuring a seamless user experience. Additionally, I managed the handoff to the developers, providing detailed documentation and support to facilitate the implementation of the design.
